What PPF protects you from

Chips & scratches

The two things that ruin paint fastest — and the two things film stops best.

Rock chips

Gravel kicked up by the car ahead hits your bumper, hood and mirrors at highway speed.

Without PPF

Chips through the clear coat into the paint. The fix is touch-up or a repaint.

With PPF

The film takes the hit. The paint underneath stays factory.

Glass takes hits too. Add Windshield Protection from $250 and the windshield is covered as well.

Scratches & swirls Self-healing

Car washes, keys, bags and branches leave light scratches. Our film has a self-healing top coat — they disappear with heat from the sun or warm water.

Light scratches in the film

Also protects from

Bug remains are acidic. Left in the sun, they can etch marks into the clear coat.

Without PPF

Etched spots that stay even after washing.

With PPF

They sit on the film and wash off — the clear coat never sees them.

Why on a new car

Protected from day one

Factory paint is thin and chips start on the first highway trip. Put film on early — it protects the paint, it can’t undo damage that’s already there. And you stop worrying about every truck in front of you.

  1. Day 1Film goes on over perfect factory paint.
  2. Every highway tripGravel hits the film, not the paint.
  3. Washes & daily lifeLight scratches and swirls heal themselves.
  4. Every day afterPeace of mind: the car always looks like the day you got it.

Where PPF comes from

Born in a war zone

During the Vietnam War, U.S. military helicopters took off and landed in sand, dust and gravel. The grit slowly wore away the leading edges of the rotor blades. The military asked 3M for something light, tough and clear. The answer was a urethane film that crews nicknamed “helicopter tape.” Replacing worn film cost far less than repairing a blade.

Drivers already had their own fix: the “car bra,” a black vinyl cover first made for a Porsche 356 in 1961. It hid the car’s lines and could trap dirt against the paint. When clear film reached everyday cars, it took the name — the clear bra. Same job, but now you can see the paint.

  2. 1980s · Skis & race carsThe film protects downhill skis and the front ends of race cars.
  3. Late 1990s · Everyday carsClear bra reaches regular drivers — thick, stiff and hard to fit at first.
  4. 2011 · Self-healingA self-healing top coat arrives: light scratches fade with heat.
  5. TodayThin, clear film cut to each panel. The idea hasn’t changed: replace the film, not the paint.

Questions

Everything people ask us

Is PPF the same as a clear bra?

Yes. Clear bra is an older name for paint protection film. It comes from the black vinyl car bras drivers used before clear film existed. PPF, clear bra and clear mask all mean the same thing.

Will people notice the film?

Clear gloss film is very hard to spot. From a normal distance the car simply looks like a car with clean, glossy paint.

Can PPF be removed later?

Yes. Quality film can be taken off later without harming factory paint that’s in good condition.

Can you put PPF on a used car?

Yes, but film doesn’t fix chips that are already there — it seals them as they are. We’ll look at the paint first and tell you if anything is worth correcting before the film goes on.

How do I wash my car after PPF?

A normal hand wash. Give it a few days after install before the first wash — we’ll go through the exact aftercare when you pick up the car.

How long does the install take?

It depends on the package and the car. We’ll tell you the exact timing when we book you in.

Do scratches really heal?

Light scratches and swirls in the film’s top coat fade with heat — from the sun or warm water. Deep cuts through the film don’t heal, but the paint underneath is still protected.

Can you protect the windshield?

Yes. Windshield Protection is an add-on from $250 — clear film on the windshield that takes rock chips from the road. Add it to any package.

How does payment work?

A 50% deposit books your appointment. The rest is paid when your car is ready.

PPF or ceramic coating?

They do different jobs. PPF physically stops chips and scratches; a coating makes paint glossy and easier to clean but doesn’t stop chips. They work well together.
